After years of living with a cramped, basement-level kitchen and two staircases, the owners of this 900 sq ft, two-level condo in Boston's historic Beacon Hill neighborhood were ready for a change.
We began by removing one unnecessary staircase, which allowed for a master closet at the lower level and a new kitchen above. A window became a double door, which opened up to a new deck just off the kitchen and dining area. Steps down from the deck allow access to a small green space below which previously could only be viewed from above. A full bathroom was added to accompany the master bedroom, now downstairs. The remaining staircase was rebuilt due to its state of disrepair, exposing the 100 year-old brick wall beside it, and allowing for additional storage beneath it.
